Salary: London: £58,760 - £65,000 / National: £55,760 - £62,000

About the team
The government has established the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA) as its centre of infrastructure expertise, harnessing the policy and strategy insight of the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) and the delivery specialism of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) and bringing them together to build a new, stronger and more powerful organisation capable of delivering key goals.
NISTA's environment team was formally part of the National Infrastructure Commission. We develop policy and strategy in relation to water, flood and waste infrastructure and also develop cross cutting environmental policy including the planning regime and climate resilience.
About the Role
As a Senior Policy Adviser in the Environment Policy team at NISTA, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and implementing the government's 10-Year Infrastructure Strategy, focussing specifically on water policy This is an outstanding opportunity to work on significant national projects, influencing policies that will have a lasting impact on the UK's infrastructure and environment. You will be part of an exceptionally dedicated team, driving world-class policy development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research that identifies, scopes, and supports the delivery of policy projects aligned with NISTA's objectives.
- Analyse and summarise complex numerical data to improve NISTA's understanding across various sectors.
- Provide rigorous assessment of large volumes of information, determining what is crucial for NISTA's objectives.
- Supervise team tasks and external consultants' work with breakthrough plans.
- Establish and maintain relationships with collaborators to keep NISTA at the forefront of the policy landscape.
- Clearly communicate with a variety of audiences, including sharing work with government collaborators and external audiences at industry meetings and conferences.
- Craft high-quality written content that effectively summarizes detailed research for senior management, the Council of Expert Advisers, and external partners.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have proven experience in policy development and project management, with a focus on environmental issues. You'll have strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and summarise complex data, as well as outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to a range of audiences. Experience in building and managing relationships with a variety of collaborators and working collaboratively within a team and across different departments will be a real benefit. Lastly, a proactive approach to problem-solving, with an inquisitive mind and a willingness to innovate.
