Senior Platform Engineer

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in building scalable infrastructure and deployment systems across YouLend's cloud ecosystem. You will be responsible for standardising infrastructure as code, improving developer workflows, contributing to CI/CD design, and enabling self-service deployment models through automation and governance. This role is part of the Architecture Team within the Platform group.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement infrastructure using Terraform, Terragrunt, Helm, and Kubernetes
• Build and manage scalable CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
• Define and enforce platform standards across environments (dev, staging, prod)
• Collaborate with developers and DevOps on deployment tooling and security
• Enable platform observability using tools like Datadog, Prometheus, and CloudWatch
• Maintain Helm charts and Terraform modules for shared infrastructure
• Contribute to onboarding documentation and platform adoption practices
• Participate in incident response and postmortem analysis, where applicable

Essential Skills

• Strong experience with Terraform, Pulumi and Helm in multi-account AWS environments
• Expert-level knowledge of AWS (VPC, EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda, Control Tower, Transfer Family, Transit Gateway, Multi-account hosted zones, etc.) with practical experience in designing large-scale cloud solutions.
• Proven software engineering experience (any language) and willingness to learn C#, TypeScript, Python
• Proven full-stack engineering experience (front end, backend, APIs, databases)
• Proficient in Kubernetes (EKS preferred), including RBAC, autoscaling, and Helm-based deployment
• Solid experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, etc.)
• Familiarity with containerisation using Docker and secure image management
• Scripting or programming experience in Bash, Python, or TypeScript
• Strong understanding of GitOps practices and infrastructure lifecycle management

Desirable Skills

• Experience with observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, Fluent Bit)
• Knowledge of admission controllers, OPA/Gatekeeper (optional for governance)
• Familiarity with cloud cost optimisation and Kubernetes scaling strategies
• Exposure to security scanning tools (tfsec, Trivy, Snyk)
• Interest in mentoring and platform evangelism within the wider engineering team
