Your Purpose As a Senior Pipeline Infrastructure Engineer , you'll provide technical leadership, guidance, and assurance on both clean water and water recycling infrastructure projects. Acting as a technical expert in pipeline engineering, you'll review and approve designs across a wide portfolio, ensuring they are fit for purpose, compliant with legislation, and aligned with Alliance's standards. You'll collaborate with a range of stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation to support the successful delivery of AMP8 outcomes. What You'll Be Doing Lead the review and acceptance of design deliverables, including drawings, models, and calculations, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with technical standards. Provide specialist input into the design of trunk mains, pressurised and gravity sewers, pumping stations, and associated civil and hydraulic structures. Support programme delivery by coordinating with Project Design Managers, Principal Infrastructure Engineers, and construction teams. Contribute to CDM and commissioning strategy meetings, ensuring health, safety, and welfare are prioritised in design. Offer technical expertise in responding to construction queries and design changes. Promote innovation, sustainability, and digital design practices to enhance performance and reduce carbon. Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering best practice and professional development across the team. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solutions. About You We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced civil or pipeline engineer with proven expertise in infrastructure design. You will ideally have: A degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience. Significant design experience in sewerage systems, trunk water mains, pressurised and gravity pipelines, and associated civil/hydraulic works. Strong understanding of pipe materials, hydraulics, pump stations, reinforced concrete structures, and pipeline protection methods. Knowledge of inter-related engineering disciplines and experience of working within a Design & Build environment. Proven ability to lead technical reviews, manage risk in design, and ensure CDM compliance. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. A track record of mentoring and supporting engineers in their professional growth. A commitment to innovation, sustainability, and delivering solutions that protect and enhance the environment. Depending on your skills, experience, and interests, you could be aligned to one of our four business units: Place Based Thinking The Place Based Thinking team delivers some of the largest and most complex projects across Alliance. Made up of six Senior Project Manager teams, we oversee 19 catchments, covering key sites such as Whitlingham, Flag Fen, Great Billing, Cotton Valley, Bedford, Colchester, and Ipswich Cliff Quays. These projects involve managing all parts of the network from rising and gravity mains, pumping stations, high spilling overflows, and water recycling centres. Water The Water Business Unit provides strategic support across the clean water network, covering both system performance and infrastructure planning. We assess the future hydraulic state of the network in response to population growth and increased demand, support the design and delivery of capital and infrastructure schemes to ensure hydraulic resilience, and work with optimisation teams to enhance overall network efficiency. Water Recycling (East and West) Our Water Recycling Business Unit, split into East and West regions, is responsible for the collection, conveyance, and treatment of wastewater across an extensive network. We operate over 76,000km of sewerage infrastructure and 1,163 treatment centres, ensuring safe and sustainable discharge to the environment while driving innovation and environmental performance.This is a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the UK's most successful capital delivery alliances.
