Senior Pig Stockperson - Derbyshire - £35,000

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out daily health, welfare and condition checks across the herd
• Support serving, dry sow and farrowing operations within the breeding to finishing system
• Assist with piglet care including fostering, weighing, tagging, injections and general husbandry
• Administer treatments and vaccinations where trained and authorised
• Move pigs safely between pens, rooms and buildings
• Maintain high standards of biosecurity, hygiene and bedding management
• Record treatments, births, deaths, movements and production data accurately
• Support loading and unloading of livestock for transport
• Carry out routine equipment checks and report maintenance issues
• Assist with general farm maintenance and upkeep

The Candidate

• Previous experience working within commercial pig production, ideally on a breeding or breeding to finishing unit
• Good sow husbandry skills and confidence working across serving, dry sow and farrowing areas
• Excellent attention to detail with a proactive and self driven approach
• Strong commitment to animal welfare, biosecurity and high husbandry standards
• Ability to work closely with the Pig Production Manager and wider team
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK

Candidate Requirements

• All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for.
