Join Whipps Cross Hospital, a Centre of Excellence in Frailty and the centre for NOF fractures for Barts Health, where compassionate care and innovation come together.

Job summary

We are seeking a confident Band 7 Occupational Therapist with strong leadership skills and a broad T&O background to lead our dedicated therapy team. Our orthopaedic wards follow the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol for NOF fractures, improving outcomes through evidence-based practice. In this role, you will lead a skilled team delivering specialist assessments and interventions across complex T&O and rehabilitation caseloads, working within a multidisciplinary team and championing best practice in orthopaedic care alongside your peers, including the Advanced Clinical Academic Fellow B7 T&O Physiotherapist and Band 8a Advanced Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in T&O.

Person Specification Essential
  • Extensive post registration experience working in an acute hospital setting in the NHS (or similar health service) within orthopaedics and frailty speciality
  • Leading and operationally line managing a team, with experience of supervising and appraising junior staff and students
  • Experience of working within a high pressure and fast paced environment
  • Experience of implementing quality improvement / research ideas that lead to improved service delivery and care to patients, both within the profession & externally to other staff groups
  • Ability to recognise service risks and issues and escalated accordingly
  • Ability to recognise own professional boundaries and to seek advice and support as needed
  • Understand legal responsibilities of the profession & associated code of ethics
  • Degree in Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Proactive passion for evidence based practice, continual professional development and learning
Desirable
  • Member of a specific interest group relevant to Orthopaedics and frailty
  • Committee membership e.g. Risk Management
