In this strategic HR leadership role, you'll provide focused, pragmatic support that directly influences decision-making at the highest levels. You will coach senior leaders, drive accountability, and spearhead initiatives in change management, talent development, resource planning, and employee relations.
As a proactive partner to our Executive Management and Senior Leadership Teams, you'll offer commercial and strategic People insights that align with our business goals. Your impact will be instrumental in guiding us through our next phase of growth.
You'll be accountable for the seamless execution of cyclical People initiatives and people plan deliverables across the organisation. As our structure evolves, you'll have the opportunity to expand your portfolio.
In this dynamic role, you'll also deputise for the Deputy Head of People Strategy and Insourcing as needed, making you a key contributor to our people strategy and organisational success.
Main duties of the jobAs a Senior People Business Partner at HUC, you'll play a critical role in supporting our NHS 111 services by driving strategic people initiatives that directly impact service delivery, workforce experience, and patient care. You'll be a trusted partner to operational leaders, using your expertise to influence workforce planning, engagement, and performance management across a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
In this role, you will lead on complex employee relations matters, coach leaders through organisational change, and ensure that people strategies are aligned with both HUC's values and the evolving needs of our commissioners. You'll use data and insight to inform decision-making, identify workforce trends, and co-develop solutions that improve retention, capability, and employee wellbeing across our contact centre and clinical workforce.
You'll also play a key part in leading and embedding people-focused projects, such as talent management, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion initiatives, working collaboratively with our wider People team. Your ability to build credibility, manage complexity, and influence at all levels will be essential as you support operational excellence and drive continuous improvement within a mission-led, not-for-profit healthcare organisation

Person Specification Personal Qualities, Knowledge, and Skills Essential criteria- Substantial specialist knowledge of HR policies and procedures and associated Employment Law and complex cases.
- Ability to build effective and trusting business partnering relationships.
- Excellent emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work at a strategic level developing new business and HR solutions to meet business needs
- Strong communication skills to establish good working relationships with leaders, colleagues and external organisations
- Able to use initiative, multitask and prioritise diverse workload and work to deadlines.
- Ability to be responsible and accountable for decision making.
- Evidence of on-going Continuing Professional Development
- Familiar with the use of iTrent and Trac systems
- Demonstrable extensive HR experience in a business partnering role (ideally in healthcare)
- Significant experience of advising on HR policy, Employment Law and best practice.
- Significant experience of organisational change eg TUPE, restructuring, redundancy
- Experience of planning and delivering people initiatives, including talent management, workforce planning and performance management
- Ability to work at both a strategic and operational level
- Experience of working with the NHS or public sector terms and conditions of service
- Experience of working in HR in a regulated activity organisation
- Educated to masters level in Human Resources or equivalent experience
- MCIPD
