Job Description
Senior Paediatric Audiologist

Closing date: 25 January 2026

An experienced Paediatric Audiologist is required for a permanent band 6 senior role in an IQIPS accredited department. The successful candidate will deliver high quality Audiology care and support the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties
  • Perform diagnostic hearing assessment on children from 6 months up to 25 years of age and analyse the results in line with national and local protocols.
  • Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)
  • Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)
  • Performance testing
  • Speech testing
  • Otoscopy
  • Middle ear function tests using tympanometry
  • Diagnostic Otoacoustic Emissions
  • Identify when further investigations are necessary and make appropriate referrals in a timely manner.
  • Adapt techniques to suit the individual patient's need.
  • Provide independent clinical services directly to patients without supervision.
  • Create individual rehabilitation plans while maintaining a flexible and responsive approach.
  • Establish good rapport with patients of all ages, encouraging cooperation in clinics and self management at home.
  • Verify and validate hearing aid prescriptions for paediatric patients using real ear and coupler measurements.
  • Provide training both in house and to external groups, including STP trainees.
  • Supervise junior staff when required.
  • Actively participate in audit and quality assessment tools.
Qualifications Education
  • BSc/MSc Audiology or equivalent.
Registration
  • Registered as one of the following (or eligible for registration): HCPC/RCCP/AHCS.
Experience
  • Significant and recent post qualification experience in Paediatric Audiology.
  • Experience working in an NHS setting or equivalent.
  • Experience in hearing aid verification and validation.
  • Experience in Paediatric Audiology diagnostic assessments.
  • Experience in audit.
  • Theoretical knowledge and understanding of Auditory Brainstem Response Testing.
Skills
  • Excellent communication skills to build good rapport with colleagues and patients.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Ability to deliver work to an agreed timescale and meet tight deadlines.
