There are multiple roles available with a total of 45 hours that can be split across multiple posts. Due to maternity leave, we are offering roles for experienced Paediatric Audiologists to join the Audiology Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The post provides an opportunity to develop experience in complex and advanced Paediatric Audiology in a unique setting. You will perform general Audiology and may be trained to undertake complex assessment processes (e.g., APD, BAHA, Microsuction, Vestibular and Electrophysiological testing) in line with service needs. The department has close links to the Cochlear Implant team and there may be exposure opportunities. There may also be an opportunity to see private patients as part of the department rotation for Senior Audiologists (service requirement permitting). There will be CPD opportunities (Internal & External) and opportunities to learn with the unique patient population here."

You will oversee management or act as point of contact for a clinical area in conjunction with Band 8s, alongside line management responsibilities. Research and project management is desirable with several active studies. A minimum of a BSc in Audiology or equivalent is required. You must be HCPC (Clinical Scientist) / AHCS registered and have post-qualification paediatric experience.

Main duties of the job

• Perform a combination of clerical and clinical duties without supervision.
• Conduct diagnostic audiological assessments to evaluate hearing disorders.
• Modify diagnostic assessments for children of varying ages and with diverse needs to obtain reliable information.
• Monitor and update audiological protocols within the Audiology Department in liaison with the Lead Audiologist.
• Initiate and develop plans to improve Audiology services.
• Undertake further training for professional development as required by registration protocols.
• Promote a learning environment within the Audiology department to encourage staff training and development.

Person Specification Our values and requirements

• BSc or MSc in Audiological Science or equivalent
• Registration with Health Professionals Council / RCCP or equivalent
• Project management

Experience/Knowledge

• Knowledge of health service practices and understanding of clinical governance
• Up-to-date knowledge of testing and current practices
• At least 2 years post-qualification Paediatric Audiology experience
• Experience with cochlear implants
• Experience with BAHA
• Experience in vestibular, APD testing and electrophysiology

Skills/Abilities

• Competent in a full range of audiological testing, including electrophysiology
• Competent in independently assessing children of all ages
• Effective communication with hearing-impaired children of all ages
• Competent at fitting a wide range of hearing aids
• Able to lead clinical appointments and create management plans for children with hearing aids
• Competent in impression taking on children of all ages
• Ability to audit and demonstrate good working practice
• Interest and aptitude for research and development of the clinical service
• Able to communicate using sign language
