About the role

As a Senior Network Engineer at the Natural History Museum, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and supporting the digital backbone of one of the world's leading scientific and cultural institutions. This is a unique opportunity to work in a research in stitute style environment, where cutting edge science, world class collections, and public engagement come together, and where technology plays an increasingly vital part in enabling discovery.

You'll be instrumental in designing, maintaining and evolving a complex, modern network that underpins everything from high performance research computing and specimen digitisation to advanced audiovisual experiences and public facing digital services. The Museum is investing in ambitious new infrastructure and platforms, and you'll help drive that forward thinking approach to technology adoption, introducing innovative solutions, shaping standards and ensuring the network is ready for the future of scientific research and immersive visitor experiences.

If you're excited by the idea of applying your expertise in a mission driven organisation, collaborating with scientists, digital specialists and technologists, and influencing the next generation of network architecture for a globally recognised institution, this role offers a rare and rewarding challenge.

About you

The ideal candidate will be a network engineer with a solid track record and deep understanding of networking protocols. You will have worked hands on in complex network environments and be confident operating across WAN, LAN and data centre infrastructures.

Experience in firewalling and wireless will also be an advantage.

The candidate will all be able to demonstrate strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities, organisational skills and the ability to devise and implement creative technical solutions.

Thriving at the Museum: the way we work

We are proud to work at the Museum and have identified the qualities we all need to embody to reach our shared ambition. This sits alongside the Museum's values and forms the framework for the way we work.
