Job Description
About The Role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will demonstrate a strong understanding of the quality, safety, and commercial drivers associated with the design and delivery of infrastructure projects and will be expected to bring an innovative approach to bespoke projects. Responsibilities:- Work closely with the Senior Mechanical Engineer, the Design Manager, the Innovation Manager, CAD Engineers, and other engineering disciplines to deliver Coffey projects.
- Perform preliminary and detailed design of water / wastewater treatment plants based on data provided; achieving contract specified goals.
- Design mechanical aspects for water and wastewater delivery and collection networks, and associated treatment plant components such as pumps, pumping stations, filters, filtration systems, hydraulic design, and valve/pipe selection.
- Research and develop new equipment and process solutions.
- Develop relationships with supply chain partners and customers.
- Apply appropriate software to provide advice, solutions, and successful outcomes to meet project objectives.
- Adopt relevant standards in design to streamline engineering tasks.
- Create drawings of equipment and plant layouts.
- Develop PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment schedules.
- Perform hydraulic, energy, and mechanical calculations as part of detailed design.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Ethical, and Quality requirements, both legislative and company-specific.
- Manage time effectively to execute work within deadlines.
- Review and understand specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Maintain commercial awareness and keep informed of emerging industry trends.
- Undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Oversee project delivery aspects when required.
- Track projects through reporting, progress updates, and program management.
