Job Description

A household name based in the East Midlands is seeking an experienced Construction Lawyer to join their Group Legal and Compliance team in Leicestershire. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of a forward-thinking legal function while working closely with senior stakeholders and influencing strategic decisions.

What you'll do

As part of the commercial legal function, the successful Construction Lawyer - In House will tackle a wide range of construction-related matters both contentious and non-contentious.

The successful Construction Lawyer - In House will:

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on construction-related agreements to ensure robust commercial outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice on contentious matters such as terminations, pay less notices, and adjudications.
  • Update construction documents and guidance notes to maintain best practice standards.
  • Deliver tailored training sessions to enhance understanding across commercial and technical teams.
  • Offer strategic legal counsel to executive leadership on issues affecting the house building sector.
  • Collaborate with external lawyers when specialist input is required.
  • Contribute to shaping the future strategy of the Group Legal & Compliance Team through key initiatives.
What You Bring:
  • At least 6 years PQE in construction law (private practice or in-house experience).
  • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail across all forms of legal documentation.
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging training sessions tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Commercial awareness with a balanced approach to risk management and business objectives.
  • Experience advising on contentious construction matters is highly desirable.
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability under pressure.
