Job Description
Senior Legal Assistant & Team Leader- Spalding, Lincolnshire

Senior Legal Assistant and Team Leader position is available in the Document Production Team at our Spalding office. The role supports Private Client and Residential Conveyancing teams, handling initial client enquiries and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of matters.

Location: Spalding, UK
Hours: 9am - 5.15pm Monday to Friday
Salary: Dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all necessary typing and word processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Transcribe information from manual documents or audio recordings as required.
  • Line manage Senior Legal Assistants, Legal Support Assistants, and Reception staff.
  • Monitor, allocate, and oversee workloads within the Document Production Team.
  • Support and monitor team performance, including providing guidance and mentoring to team members.
  • Provide support across all areas of the business, including assisting other offices when required.
  • Handle telephone calls on behalf of fee earners, taking and relaying messages promptly and accurately.
  • Arrange appointments as required.
  • Ensure work is kept up to date, prioritising tasks based on urgency and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all information is correctly recorded on the file management system.
  • Maintain high levels of client and company confidentiality at all times.
  • Work flexibly as part of a collaborative team, providing cover for other Senior Legal Assistants when required.
  • Provide Reception cover as and when required.
Candidate Profile
  • Secretarial qualification or equivalent work based experience.
  • Experience of working in a law firm.
  • High level of competency in using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience working within Private Client and/or Residential Conveyancing.
  • Previous experience of managing others.
  • Clear understanding of confidentiality/Data Protection.
  • Typing speed of at least 50 WPM.
  • Strategic thinker with hands on delivery capability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to quickly establish and maintain good working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and data driven decision-making capability.
  • Able to work with diplomacy and assertiveness.
  • Discrete with the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • Flexible and willing/able to travel to all offices.
  • Proactive and positive attitude.Reacts well under pressure and is able to work to deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and empathy.
  • Team player.
  • Sense of humour.
