About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in TESOL and Applied Linguistics to join a team of seventeen Languages and Linguistics academics. The successful candidate will lead the undergraduate TESOL provision and may take on programme leadership for the flagship English Language and Linguistics and English Language, Linguistics and TESOL programmes.

Responsibilities

During term time and assessment periods the majority of work will involve teaching in a variety of settings-including small group tutorials/seminars and lectures; assessment; and provision of pastoral and academic support to students. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain a solid research profile, participate in community language learning initiatives, and contribute to the Language and Social Justice Research Centre.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Expertise in teaching TESOL and Applied Linguistics at undergraduate and preferably Masters level
  • A doctoral level qualification and active engagement in research, especially in TESOL
  • Experience in programme or course leadership, ideally in TESOL, and experience with externally accredited TESOL programmes
  • Experience in setting up or contributing to community language learning initiatives (a CELTA or DELTA qualification is an advantage)
  • Research interests in Applied Linguistics and social justice issues are desirable
