The opportunity
This is an exciting time to join the expanding community at Wimbledon College of Arts within the BA Art Direction and Visual Effects course. We're offering two, full-time posts, for two candidates to year-lead at undergraduate level.
Successful candidates will work closely with the BA Course Leader and staff, as a Year Leader, to deliver an inspiring student experience at undergraduate level. They'll assume responsibility for delivering specialist teaching and academic guidance, curriculum development, and leadership within the course.
This course teaches students the skills required to be an art director or visual effects (VFX) artist for screen-based entertainment. We aim to equip students with the expertise to shape innovative ideas that will drive the visual identity of film, television, animation and computer games.
As well as delivering stimulating teaching, you'll also support students with their progress, offering academic and pastoral support that will help students to thrive. Working closely with the course team, you'll coordinate the administration of specific units on the course, whilst also contributing to curriculum development, course organisation and management.
About You
You'll be a well-qualified academic who has experience of teaching and assessment in a Higher Education environment (or equivalent).
We're specifically looking for two sets of expertise: one role will have specialist expertise in Art Direction, including knowledge of Concept Art pipeline relating to computer games, VFX or animation production, strong understanding of digital art, photoshop skills, and experience with both 3D and 2D software.
The other role will have a production level knowledge of production workflows for VFX, computer games or animation, and working knowledge of Blender, Unreal Engine and/or Maya for character and environment modelling.
In addition to this, you'll demonstrate evidence of research, teaching, knowledge exchange and/or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of relevant activity and is relevant to the goals of the Programme, College and University.
