Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Linux, Windows, VMware | Security & Patching Focus
Location: Leeds (hybrid - 3 days per week onsite in Leeds)
Rate: £350-£400 per day outside IR35
Start Date: Immediate
Duration: 6 months (with potential extension)

We re looking for a hands-on Senior Infrastructure Engineer with deep experience across Linux, Windows Server, and VMware to join a forward-thinking engineering team tackling some of the most critical challenges in enterprise IT: security, patching, and technical debt.

This isn t just another BAU role. you'll be instrumental in modernising Legacy systems, automating patching pipelines, and hardening infrastructure to meet evolving compliance and security standards.

What you'll Be Doing
  • Leading patching and remediation efforts across mixed OS environments.
  • Identifying and resolving technical debt in Legacy infrastructure.
  • Supporting secure builds and configuration baselines for Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Collaborating with platform and security teams to improve automation and compliance.
  • Working with VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi) to optimise performance and reliability.
  • Producing clear documentation and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

What We re Looking For
  • Proven experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering (Linux, Windows Server, VMware).
  • Strong understanding of security hardening, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks (eg ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials).
  • Hands-on experience with patching tools (SCCM, WSUS, Satellite, Ansible).
  • Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Ability to assess and remediate technical debt in complex environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.
