Job Description

The Development Team is a well-established, high-performing discipline within the Planning and Development business unit, focused on project delivery throughout the entire project life cycle, from initial land acquisition, planning support, and design, through to scheme implementation.

The role:

  • Providing support in the delivery of concept studies/strategies with hands-on design, leading to planning applications, technical approval submissions, and construction drawing issuance.
  • Contributing to various development projects across sectors and clients.
  • Managing multiple projects and client accounts simultaneously.
  • Supporting and guiding a team of technical staff of various grades.
  • Engaging in client relations, stakeholder management, and liaising with design teams and professionals.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet technical standards and legal requirements.

What you need to succeed:

  • A Civil Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in highway/roads design, drainage, flood risk assessment, utility planning, and knowledge of the UK development industry.
  • Understanding of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, and construction design stages.
  • Ability to produce masterplans, site appraisals, reports, calculations, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of relevant design codes and standards.
  • Strong communication skills and awareness of sustainability and climate change guidance.
  • Proficiency with relevant software such as InfoDrainage, Civils 3D, or PDS.
  • Experience liaising with clients, authorities, and professionals to obtain approvals and agreements.
  • Knowledge of legal processes, planning, design, and contractual procedures related to infrastructure projects.
