About the OpportunityEllucian's Security Operations Center is at an inflection point. We're not maintaining the status quo - we're rebuilding how we detect, respond to, and think about threats across an enterprise that serves over 2,700 higher education institutions worldwide. As a Senior Information Security Engineer on our Dublin-based Information Security team, you'll be the person who makes that transformation real. You'll own our Splunk environment, design the processes and playbooks that define how we operate, and bring a modern perspective on how AI can make a security team faster and smarter. If you've ever wanted to build a SOC the right way rather than inherit someone else's decisions, this is that role.
Where You Will Make an Impact- Architect and lead the modernization of our SOC - from detection pipelines and alert triage to incident response playbooks that actually get used.
- Own Splunk end-to-end: administration, detection rule development, dashboard design, and infrastructure optimization so we get signal, not noise.
- Build the operational backbone - SOPs, escalation frameworks, and runbooks - that turns a reactive team into a proactive one.
- Introduce AI-informed capabilities into our security operations, identifying where automation, anomaly detection, and intelligent correlation can meaningfully reduce response times.
- Partner with cloud and infrastructure teams to strengthen AWS security monitoring and close visibility gaps across our environment.
- Mentor and upskill SOC analysts through documentation, training, and by setting a high bar for how we work.
- 5+ years in information security engineering or security operations with real ownership of outcomes, not just ticket queues.
- Hands on Splunk administration experience - index management, forwarder configuration, SPL development, and performance tuning.
- A track record of building security processes and operational documentation, not just following them.
- Foundational understanding of AI/ML concepts and a practical eye for where they can (and can't) add value in a security context.
- Experience with AWS security services (CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub).
- Working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and how to translate framework thinking into actionable detection coverage.
- Strong scripting ability (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation and integration.
- Clear communication skills - you can explain what you're building and why it matters to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
- Experience with Splunk Enterprise Security (ES).
- Familiarity with SOAR platforms or security automation tooling.
- Background in SaaS or higher education technology environments.
- 25 daysannual leave plus public holidays
- Choice to opt in for private Medical and Dental cover
- Competitive pension plan
- Thrive Flex Lifestyle Account (LSA) that allows you to contribute towards your health, financial or learning interests
- 5 charitable days to support the community that supports us

- Headspace (mental health)
- Wellbeats(virtual fitness classes)
- RethinkCare- caregiver support
- Diversity and inclusion programs that promote employee resource groups such as: Women in Technology, Pride and Go Green to name a few.

- Employee referral bonuses to encourage the addition of great new people to the team
