We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Information Governance Officer to join our team and help strengthen how we manage and protect information across the Trust. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring we meet our legal, statutory and best practice responsibilities, including UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests.
As an operational point of contact for Information Governance, you will work closely with the Strategic Improvement Lead Officer and colleagues across the organisation. You will contribute to improvement and transformation activity, reporting and assurance, and help embed a confident, proactive information governance culture.
This role is ideal for someone who is self-driven, organised and confident communicating with a range of stakeholders. If you have experience in information management, data protection, data governance, risk, compliance or information rights, we would love to hear from you.
About the role- Co-ordinate the Trust's operational Information Governance functions, including managing a busy shared mailbox, coordinating and providing specialist advice and guidance on FOIs, coordinating subject access requests and ensuring information requests are responded to in a timely manner.
- Provide technical support in meeting Information Governance obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
- Support the investigation and management of information governance incidents and data breaches, working with relevant partners as required. Support the Strategic Improvement Lead Officer with reporting, assurance and specific Information Governance projects within the Trust's Information Governance action plan.
What you need to be successful in this role:
- Are relevant professional qualification or equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a relevant service area.
- Working knowledge of data protection legislation and information rights (including UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOI and SARs), and the ability to apply this in day-to-day decision making.
- Experience in information governance within children's social care is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to different audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing, advising and collaborating with colleagues and partners.
