Job Title: Senior Indirect Buyer
Location: Cumbernauld

What we're looking for

As our Senior Buyer you'll own specific Indirect procurement categories, continually developing activities to the highest standards, and proactively identifying cost savings. You'll be responsible for leading contract management and tenders for key indirect goods and services, and supporting stakeholders in managing external spend. Your role involves selecting suppliers based on availability, quality, price, risk, environmental credentials, and market status.



As our Senior Indirect Buyer you will

  • Actively contribute to the formulation and operation of Company Procurement strategy and execution.
  • Business partner with key internal stakeholders and support with external partners.
  • Proactively manage a range of indirect categories defined by the company.
  • Identify, prepare, negotiate and evaluate material and service contract tenders to ensure good quality, cost effective value added on key requirements.
  • Deliver specific procurement contract priorities set by the Director of Procurement.
  • Identify new suppliers, evaluate their capability, negotiate arrangements and benchmarking activities ensuring proper due diligence is conducted.
  • Develop forward category strategies for the identified indirect procurement areas.
  • Proactively identify efficiency and cost savings opportunities and project manage the delivery of the savings to agreed timelines.
  • Actively contribute to business wide strategic projects and lead other projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all procurement regulations and internal policies.
  • Implement and enforce procurement best practices across the organisation.
  • Negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms and prices for goods and services.



What you'll bring

  • Advanced analytical skills, able to review complex data to deliver ongoing value to the business.
  • Plan and execute complex negotiations and total cost analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage complex contracts, ensure full compliance from stakeholders, and translate contracts into understandable executive summaries.
  • Excellent communication skills to build professional relationships internally and externally and deliver best in class service.
  • The job holder may, as required, have line management for assistant buyers.
  • Ability to prioritise and respond dynamically to a changing environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Suitable procurement experience, ideally with Indirect procurement.
  • Fully Qualified Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply.
  • Degree qualification in business discipline.
  • Commercial awareness and a sound knowledge of relevant category markets.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver projects to agreed deadlines.
