Job Description

Senior Hardware/Firmware Engineer

Fully Remote | East Midlands (UK)
Engineering Company | New Product Development | Exciting Technology

I am Exclusively working with an innovative engineering company based in the East Midlands that's developing the next generation of cutting-edge technology. Due to continued growth and a strong new product pipeline, they're looking to hire a Senior Hardware/Firmware Engineer to play a key role in shaping future products.

This is a fully remote position, offering genuine flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to influence technical direction from day one.

The Role

Reporting directly into the Lead Hardware/Firmware Engineer, you'll be a senior contributor within a small, highly capable engineering team. This is a hands-on role where your ideas matter - you'll have real input into architecture, design decisions, and the roadmap for both existing and brand-new products.

You'll work across the full development life cycle, collaborating closely with colleagues in a relaxed, low-bureaucracy environment with no micromanagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop hardware and firmware for new and existing products
  • Multilayer PCB design and schematic capture
  • Firmware development in C on RTOS and bare-metal systems
  • Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making
  • Support product development from concept through to production
  • Work closely with a small, tight-knit engineering team

Core Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in Hardware Design
  • Multilayer PCB Design experience
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or similar PCB tools
  • Firmware development in C
  • Experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal systems

Desirable Skills

  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
  • Design for certification/regulated industries
  • High-speed design
  • DSP experience
  • Exposure to Android systems

What's on Offer

  • Fully remote working (UK-based)
  • Flexible working hours
  • High level of autonomy and trust
  • Opportunity to shape future products and technology direction
  • Supportive, collaborative team culture
  • Exciting, technically challenging projects

If you're a senior engineer who enjoys ownership, variety, and working on meaningful technology without layers of process, this is an opportunity worth exploring! Ideally you will be located in a location that you could come into the office for example if needed but this could be once a month or not at all (see below)
