Join the Steel Hunters team as a Senior Graphics Programmer working on the newly announced free-to-play mech shooter game, by Wargaming, one of the biggest publishers of free-to-play games in the world.
This strategic and tactical game in Unreal Engine 5, blends mech hero combat with Battle Royale and Extraction gameplay in a rich, futuristic setting, where players fight over a rare resource called Starfall. Reports toYou will report to the Lead Graphics Programmer
What will you do?- Profile and optimize complex rendering pipelines, focusing on both GPU and Render Thread performance.
- Investigate and resolve high complexity rendering crashes, particularly those related to GPU behavior across different hardware.
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and gameplay programmers to deliver cutting-edge visuals with optimal performance.
- Research, prototype, and implement advanced rendering features within Unreal Engine 5
- Contribute to long-term rendering architecture planning and performance strategy.
- Review code and mentor colleges, setting high standards for rendering quality and performance.
- Strong professional experience as a graphics/rendering programmer in the game industry, ideally in AAA or high-quality AA production environments. Ability to communicate clearly to enable collaboration across disciplines.
- Solid experience with modern graphics APIs such as DirectX 12, Vulkan, or console-specific APIs. Understanding of current real-time rendering techniques.
- Expert-level C++ skills and comfort working close to the hardware. Experience writing shaders in HLSL, GLSL, CG, or similar.
- Proven ability to profile and optimize both GPU and Render Thread performance using tools such as RenderDoc, PIX, NSight, Unreal Insights, etc.
- Strong debugging skills, especially in diagnosing and fixing GPU crashes and rendering-related stability issues.
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Experience working directly with Unreal Engine 5 at a low level (custom engine forks, RHI, or modifying renderer source).
- Familiarity with virtual shadow maps, nanite, temporal upscaling, or other UE5-specific features.
- Background in cross-platform development (e.g. PC, Xbox, PlayStation).
- Contributions to rendering research, open-source projects, or technical talks/papers.
