SENIOR DIETITIAN (Part time)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the part time post of Senior Dietitian. The successful candidate will enjoy the challenges of working as part of a multi disciplinary team and possess the following minimum skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of Dublin, Trinity College Dublin & the Dublin Institute of Technology
• Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition & Dietetics with honours classification from the University of Dublin, Trinity College Dublin and a Graduate Diploma in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from the Dublin Institute of Technology
• Qualification in Dietetics at least equivalent to the above; any foreign qualification must be validated by the Irish Department of Health & Children
• Minimum three years post qualification dietetic experience in a Senior Dietitian role
• CORU registration
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adaptability, motivation and innovation, good IT and analytical skills

Job Description

• Provide an evidence based dietetic service to the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee inpatient and outpatient community within a best practice framework
• Perform nutritional assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment/intervention programmes for Service Users according to professional standards; identify requirement for oral/enteral nutrition support and/or therapeutic diet
• Make highly specialist clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases
• Provide outpatient service on site at the Kerry GAA centre of excellence in Currans, Co. Kerry (0.3 WTE)
• Keep up to date with evidence based practice relevant to the assigned area; participate in CPD, attend educational meetings, conferences and internal training
• Manage the designated caseload day to day, including planning, assessment and intervention
• Collaborate closely with other multidisciplinary team members in the planning and delivery of services for children and young people
• Support the development of nutrition and dietetic services in line with Bon Secours Hospital Tralee development plans
• Provide evidence based nutrition counselling and support to all Service Users
• Carry out other duties as appropriate to the role, including liaising with Catering, Quality and other departments
• Contribute to hospital quality monitors and goals, including data collection and presentation
