Senior Furniture & Joinery Designer Permanent Full-Time

Salary - Circa €45,000 DOE

Location - Office based in Co.Kerry (Ireland)

Join a premier Irish woodworking firm specialising in bespoke architectural joinery and high end cabinetry. Combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, they deliver custom stairs, windows, and luxury interiors, maintaining a reputation for precision and excellence in both residential and commercial projects.

Due to continued growth, we are now looking for a Senior Furniture & Joinery Designer to lead bespoke projects from brief to build. You will master SOLIDWORKS and SWOOD workflows, mentor junior staff, and bridge the gap between technical design and high end manufacturing.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to
  • Develop intricate 3D assemblies for bespoke furniture and cabinetry using SOLIDWORKS
  • Utilise SWOOD Design for materials and grain direction, while maintaining a library of SWOOD Boxes to streamline workflows
  • Lead the team in mastering SOLIDWORKS and SWOOD, acting as a technical mentor to improve overall proficiency and supporting junior designers on technical drawing standards and traditional joinery methods
  • Generate accurate BOMs, cut lists, and CNC programs (SWOOD CAM) for AES and Rover machinery
  • Manage project timelines and milestones, ensuring all designs meet client expectations and relevant building regulations
  • Work directly with clients and architects to extract requirements, define project scopes, and manage expectations from the initial brief to the final build
  • Bridge the gap between the design office and production by troubleshooting assemblies and refining construction methods in real time
  • Identify material constraints and drive design efficiency by improving internal workflows for a seamless transition to production
Experiences required
  • Highly proficient in SOLIDWORKS (CSWP/CSWE preferred)
  • Expertise in SWOOD or similar (e.g., Woodwork for Inventor, TopSolid'Wood, Cabinet Vision, Autodesk Fusion, or Rhino)
  • A strong background in joinery or carpentry with a deep understanding of material tolerances and hardware integration
  • A proven background in mentoring or leading teams and managing projects from inception to completion
  • Must have the legal right to work full time in Ireland/UK without sponsorship
