Senior Frontend Engineer

About the Role

Do you want to shape the future of engineering at Swissquote? Tech Drive is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Languages & Frameworks team and help elevate our frontend ecosystem to the next level.

You will play a key role in defining, evolving, and promoting the technologies, frameworks, and best practices used across all Swissquote engineering teams. Your work will directly empower hundreds of developers to deliver high-quality software faster, more confidently, and with less friction.

This role is ideal for someone who combines deep frontend expertise, strong architectural thinking, and the ability to influence and guide engineering communities.

Team Mission

The Languages & Frameworks team is responsible for:

Provide sound technological guidance to all SWEs' value stream teams, having ownership of the following artifacts/processes:

• Technical Guidelines & best practices

• Tech Radar redaction and actualization in collaboration with the technical community of practices and fellow SWE teams to collect feedback from value stream teams

• Technological Survey (through conferences, POCs etc.) in close collaboration with our Communities of Practice

• Make sure the frameworks we're using at scale are still appropriate for our current needs, adopt opinionated ones following a due diligence and trial phase

Own and maintain common facilities and libraries supporting daily local development and code quality, including but not limited to:

• Frontend application templates

• Swissquote's Microfrontend library

Support teams with tough technical migrations, performance issues and harnessing tech debt

You will collaborate with our architecture team to evolve the state of the art in frontend architecture and help teams apply our architecture principles to build web applications. You will create automations to upgrade libraries and help teams reduce their tech debt providing among others OpenRewrite recipes to your fellow colleagues

Communicate to the broader audience (inside and outside the company whenever it makes sense, the why and how of our Technology choices (whether we go for homemade solutions or opinionated ones).

You will be an integral part of providing self-service development capabilities to all engineers at Swissquote via the tools and services the team provides. Your work will empower engineers to deliver software features with more confidence, faster, while reducing toil. As part of this work, you will accelerate product delivery, which enables Swissquote's mission of democratizing finance.

Your Responsibilities

• Contribute to the success of all team initiatives through design, implementation, and delivery of frontend-related tooling, libraries, and guidelines.

• Steer fellow value stream teams into adopting the team's solutions and guidance through presentations, workshops, pair programming sessions, and technical coaching.

• Implement strong collaboration with other technical stakeholders and enabling/platform teams (SWE / IT / APR) to evolve our frontend stack.

• Actively collaborate with Frontend developers in Value Stream teams and SWE Platforms Foundation to ensure alignment, adoption, and continuous improvement of frontend technologies.

• Participate in and contribute to the Frontend Community of Practice and the Frontend Governance Committee.

• Define, maintain, and evolve fitness functions for frontend technologies to ensure long-term quality, consistency, and maintainability. ( )

• Support teams with complex frontend migrations (React upgrades, TypeScript adoption, build system modernization, performance improvements).

• Continuously assess emerging frontend trends and evaluate their fit for our corporate environment.

• Support fellow team members through coaching, peer review, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Extensive experience with modern frontend development, including:

  • React (hooks, context, advanced patterns)

  • TypeScript

  • CSS ecosystem (CSS-in-JS, CSS modules, PostCSS, etc.)

  • Frontend build tools (Webpack, SWC, Babel)

• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, performance, accessibility, and testing.

• Proven experience driving cross-team technical initiatives.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence engineering communities.

• Experience with agile methodologies.

• Fluent in English.

Nice-to-Have

• Basic understanding of Java or backend concepts (helpful for cross-stack collaboration).

• Experience contributing to or maintaining design systems.

• Strong enthusiasm for exploring and pragmatically adopting AI-powered tools and solutions to boost developer productivity, automation, and code quality.

• Exposure to micro-frontend architectures -

• Experience with Python or other languages.
