Job Description
Are you ready to bring your skills and ambition to a company that values your experience, ability and rewards your dedication?
At Solent Power, we do things differently.
We are a leading provider of critical power services but what really sets us apart is our team of Engineers, and we're growing!
We are dedicated to not only delivering the best to our customers but also creating an environment where you, as part of our team, can achieve what you set your mind to personally and professionally. We are passionate, driven and a growing business!
We believe in building a team that stands out-people who are passionate about what they do, driven to be the best, and always ready to lend a hand to those coming up behind them.
As a Senior Field Engineer , you'll have the chance to make a significant impact both on the work we do and on the next generation of engineers, as we grow our team.
Why Solent Power?
Progression that Rewards Drive and Skill: This isn't just a job; it's an opportunity to develop your career and guide it forward. We offer progression routes for you to plan for the future.
Engineering by Engineers for Engineers: Solent Power is led by technical managers with hands-on field experience. We understand the demands of the role because we've lived it ourselves, and we value the skills and dedication it takes to be a high-level engineer.
Work-Life Balance without Long Commutes: Most of our clients are based along the south coast, so you'll be working locally rather than spending hours on the road. We care about making sure you have time to balance the job you love, with time to recharge.
Force for Good: We take pride in giving back, with strong ties to charity and community initiatives. You'll be part of a company that cares about more than just the bottom line.
Health and Wellbeing First: Your health, both mentally and physically, is important to us. We offer private health insurance for you and your family.
What You Bring to the Team
Extensive electrical engineering experience with diesel generators-this is essential. You'll need strong skills in diagnostics, repair, and installation.
At least 8 years' engineering experience with diesel combustion engines, power systems, and control systems.
A great track record of working with companies.
Excellent customer service skills, you'll be at the forefront of building and keeping relationships with clients old and new.
A commitment to developing others. You'll be hands-on, patient, and willing to coach more junior engineers, using your experience to help them grow and succeed.
A can-do attitude and drive to continuously improve. You're not just here to do the work-you're here to make an impact and move the industry forward.
Excellent communication skills.
Your time management and organisation skills are something to be proud of - we're not about micromanaging!
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
The Role:
As a Senior Field Service Engineer, you'll:
Service, repair, and install diesel generators, up to 2MVA.
Perform diagnostics and fault finding on complex electrical systems, control systems, and switchgear.

Lead and support junior engineers, taking an active role in mentoring and troubleshooting alongside them to enhance team capabilities.

Take an active role in driving continuous improvements within our field operations.
The Package:
