Job Description

About the role

Support the survey manager in the delivery of all survey requirements for the
project as the technical/operational lead on a project. On a larger project, will be the
survey manager for a section of works supported by a team.
Tasks include engineering control, topographic survey, engineering surveying and
setting out. Provide the site team with construction information, assist in QA/QC,
and support H&S (Health & Safety) and sustainability initiatives within the survey
department.

What you'll be doing

Core
o Deputise for the ESM as required, liaising with the project management
team.
o Implement a standardised approach to the capture of all survey data and
creation of deliverables across the project.
o Produce deliverables to strict deadlines in accordance with the site
programme.
o Collecting survey field data, processing, and issuing to clients or
stakeholders in the agreed formats.
o Ensuring all site-specific tolerances are met in any survey related
operations.
o Ensuring the safe and secure storage of all historical survey data relating to
the project.
o Manage, mentor, and supervise survey teams. Ensure they adhere to the
latest Company Business Management systems and procedures.
o Involved in the recruitment and management of an employee lifecycle.

Health Safety and Environment
o Responsible for the safe working of themselves, their team, and others.
o Hazard identification and raising observation cards.
o Provide daily site safety briefings to the survey team, SMSTS (Site
Management Safety Training Scheme).
o Creating site safety briefings including the preparation of WPP (Work
Package Plan), RA (Risk Assessment), and TBS (Task Briefing Sheets).

Engineering Control
o Ensure checks on survey equipment are carried out in accordance with
company standards and requirements.
o Carry out survey QA on design deliverables prior to construction release.
o Provide site engineers with information from design deliverables (schedules,
digital models, and drawings).
o Review deliverables of independent surveys checks throughout the
construction process.

Quality
o Complete QA (Quality Assurance) records as required.
o Manage the production of as-built drawings from survey data in survey
specific software.
o Comply with hold point checks in accordance with the ITP (Inspection and
Test Plan) procedure. Formally comprise and issue results to all relevant
stakeholders.

Commercial
o The management and collation of required survey records to aid the
commercial management of the project.
o Advise on survey equipment procurement, staffing levels and training
requirements.
o Involved with program and budget, liaising with SLT.
o Liaise with Client where required.
o Advice procurement on supply chain partners.
o Awareness of commercial risks

Who we're looking for

Relevant degree/masters/Diploma in either Geospatial engineering/Land
surveying/Engineering surveying, or equivalent industry recognised
qualification.
o Hold a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
o SMSTS
o Full member or working towards full membership of CICES or RICS

• Ability to work collaboratively with all teams
• An elevated level of understanding and experience in design, construction
and surveying within a construction environment
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in organizing and managing site survey teams
• Knowledge of and checking design deliverables in various digital formats
• Appreciation of setting up and maintaining of machine control systems
• Experience in settlement monitoring systems, methods, and technologies
• Experience in geodetic requirements associated with project requirements.
• Experience using latest survey equipment, software, and technologies.
• Experience in establishing GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)
networks
