Senior eCommerce Technical Project Manager - Magento/Adobe Commerce

Senior eCommerce Technical Project Manager with extensive Magento 2/Adobe Commerce project delivery experience is required by my client. This is a fully remote role.

The Role

This role requires a robust understanding of E-commerce, Magento 2 and associated web technologies, coupled with extensive experience in Project Management and Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM, tailored to the specific demands of each project.

As a Senior Technical E-commerce Project Manager, you will take ownership of delivering multiple high-impact projects simultaneously. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the highest levels of quality, client relationship building and management and fostering team collaboration. Proactive decision-making is crucial, as you will need to anticipate challenges, take the initiative in resolving issues, and lead your project team effectively.

In this role, leadership is paramount. You will guide and mentor your project team, promoting collaboration and innovation, while also ensuring that critical decisions-especially those with significant business implications-are made in consultation with senior leadership. Your ability to involve key stakeholders at the right moments will be essential in driving project success and aligning outcomes with broader business objectives.

Key Requirements

• Direct working knowledge of Magento 2 Open Source and Adobe Commerce, with a solid understanding of the key features such as B2B and how they might be used in various problem scenarios.
• Familiarity with common integrations with Magento such as payment gateways, ERP, PIM and marketing systems and a strong understanding of Magento architecture, including modules, themes, and APIs.
• Familiarity with Magento's admin panel, product management, and order processing systems.
• Knowledge of UX/UI principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of common E-commerce payment gateways (eg, PayPal, Stripe) and experience overseeing their integration.
• Advanced understanding of Core Web Vitals: Familiarity with Google's Core Web Vitals and techniques to improve them.
• Knowledge of testing methodologies, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Proficiency in Agile project management practices, including Scrum and Kanban, to manage development sprints and product backlogs, assign tasks and manage resources effectively to meet project timelines.
• Ability to identify potential project risks early in a project and develop mitigation and recovery strategies.
• Experience in creating and reviewing technical specifications and ensuring they are aligned with client business requirements.
• Ability to communicate technical details effectively with non-technical stakeholders, including clients and executive teams.
• Proven experience in documenting project progress, technical challenges, and solutions and using documentation and collaboration tools such as Atlassian, Jira, Trello, Tempo & GanttPro.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering high-quality eCommerce/Magento 2 projects on time, within budget and to scope.
• Experience in making informed decisions that balance technical feasibility, and project constraints.

Bonus points would be gained from:

• In addition to Magento 2, practical working experience of Shopify and BigCommerce
• Experience delivering projects on Hyva
• Knowledge of key features from other eCommerce platforms and third-party providers.
• Strong track record of migrating other solutions to Magento 2
• Magento certifications such as Solution Specialist
• Experience working with PHP development frameworks
• Strong SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) knowledge
