Senior Ecologist

Join a team of ecologists, environmentalists and geoscientists to deliver ecological appraisals as standalone deliverables or integrated into wider site development and planning support work. Contribute to environmental impact assessments and development consent order projects. Lead on site visits, ecological surveys, marine ecology, and liaise with client project managers. Lead in the production of screening and scoping reports to support planning applications. Develop a reputation within the sector by innovating methods of impact assessment for terrestrial, marine, coastal, and ecological impacts. Develop best available techniques for environmental assessments that consider climate resilience, emissions, noise, biodiversity, water discharges, and heritage.

• Work alongside other ecologists, environmentalists & geoscientists to deliver ecological based appraisals as standalone deliverables or integration into wider site development and planning support work.
• Contribute to environmental impact assessments and development consent order projects.
• Lead on site visits, ecological surveys, marine ecology and meet client project managers.
• Lead in the production of screening and scoping reports to support planning applications.
• Develop a reputation within the sector by developing innovative methods of impact assessment for terrestrial, marine, coastal, and ecological impacts.
• Develop best available techniques for environmental assessments that consider climate resilience, emissions, noise, biodiversity, water discharges, and heritage.

• Experience in leading or significantly contributing to the preparation of ecological surveys, HRA, and environmental impact assessments for new developments and operational permitting applications.
• Qualification background in ecology, zoology, botany, marine sciences or equivalent.
• Chartered ecologist, environmentalist, or scientist.
• Willingness to travel on business as required, including visits to overseas sites.
• Knowledge of any one of these: air quality management, noise abatement policy and legislation, or dispersion modelling methodologies for terrestrial and/or marine environments.
• Licensed bat ecologist with experience of leading bat surveys, including preliminary roost assessments and dusk/dawn surveys, in-line with current UK best practice and legislation.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle challenges.
