The Role

The Senior DevOps Specialist is a core member of every project team and plays a critical role in the software development life cycle. This role is a combination of leadership and hands on responsibilities depending on project needs. The Senior DevOps Specialist will collaborate with Project Engineers to design and implement continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that support software build, test, and delivery automation. The DevOps Specialist will also work closely with Cyber Security and SecOps to ensure that CI / CD pipelines integrate with code quality and code security static (and dynamic) analysis tools as well as open source software vulnerability scanners. The DevOps Specialist will collaborate with the Software Quality Specialist to integrate test automation into the CI / CD pipeline. As a member of the DevOps practice the DevOps Specialist will be expected to contribute to the continuous learning and continuous improvement process to ensure that DevOps processes, practices, and tools evolve and improve to adapt to changing technological and business needs. In collaboration with the Technology Strategy Group, monitor industry trends and products and suggest or trial new products and tools for common adoption by the company.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design CI/CD pipelines and other related automations and integrations.
  • Lead a team of DevOps experts through coordination of work and assignment of tasks.
  • Write and/or ensure pipeline requirements are ready for development by the DevOps Team.
  • Collaborate with project teams to conceptualize, develop, test, and release software.
  • Collaborate with project teams to implement CI / CD pipelines.
  • Support Software Quality Engineering to enable automated testing of software.
  • Support Software Quality Engineering to integrate automated testing with CI / C pipelines.
  • Collaborate with IT and Cloud Architecture to implement Infrastructure as Code to enable the automation of infrastructure automation.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Security to implement software security policies to prevent security breaches and other vulnerabilities.
  • Support IT by contributing to the design and implementation of deployment and monitoring tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • As part of the DevOps practice contribute to continuous improvements in DevOps implementation to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar relevant degree or combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years software development or systems administration experience
  • Experience leading a DevOps or development team
  • Experience mentoring junior and intermediate DevOps engineers
  • Expert level knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
  • Expert level experience with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, Powershell
  • Expert level experience and knowledge of source control tools such as GitLab
  • Expert level experience and knowledge of CI / CD tools such as Jenkins or GitCI
  • Expert level experience and knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, Salt or similar IaC technologies
  • Expert knowledge of monitoring stacks like ELK, Grafana/ Prometheus, or DynaTrace
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and oral
  • Experience with highly secure environments following NIST 800-171 and/or CIS guidelines.
  • Experience in partially air gapped environments with limited internet access.
Special Considerations

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
