Senior Design Engineer

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Syntech Recruitment are partnering with a specialist engineering firm and we are looking for an experienced, permanent Senior Design Engineer. This is a hands-on role where you'll take genuine ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture and installation. You'll lead the design of bespoke fuel systems, filtration systems and plant room equipment for clients ranging from data centres and airports to turbines and critical infrastructure - varied, technically demanding work in a team where practical engineering matters.

Senior Design Engineer Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of bespoke fuel systems, filtration systems, fuel transfer equipment, plant room installations and associated mechanical assemblies
• Produce and review 3D models, manufacturing and assembly drawings, general arrangement drawings and bills of materials
• Develop piping layouts, plant room layouts, skid-mounted systems, and fuel storage and transfer systems
• Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, component selection and material specification

Senior Design Engineer Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design engineering
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, welded fabrications and mechanical assemblies
• Proficiency in 3D CAD, and able to produce detailed drawings and BOMs
• Able to read and develop P&IDs and technical specifications
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; fluent written and spoken English

Highly Desirable

• Fuel polishing and filtration systems, diesel storage/transfer/distribution, or data centre fuel infrastructure
• Power generation and standby power systems
• Pressure testing, commissioning, installation support and site troubleshooting
