Senior Data Engineer (Data Mesh Focus)

We're working with a leading data and analytics team within the customer domain that's looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer to support the transformation of existing data into scalable data products - key to enabling a data mesh architecture.

You'll play a vital role in building and enhancing data pipelines, ensuring high data quality, modelling, implementing access management, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and improve ingestion and transformation pipelines
• Develop data products to support a data mesh architecture
• Implement data quality checks and robust access management
• Collaborate with data engineers and stewards across different teams
• Support process improvement and tech stack reviews
• Work closely with stakeholders including software engineers and product owners
• Produce clear, accessible documentation to ensure discoverability

Key Requirements:

• Strong experience with data products and data mesh : from levels and schemas to data contracts and access control
• Advanced BigQuery skills , including Analytics Hub for data access management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to advocate for the data mesh and support technical enablement
• Solid GCP experience, especially with Cloud Run (jobs), Workflows; Data flow is a bonus
• Experience with CI/CD and DataOps: GitHub Actions, observability/monitoring, Terraform (IaC)
• Proficiency in dbt for data modeling and transformation
• Advanced SQL skills, especially for pipeline optimization
• Proven experience managing technical stakeholders and collaborating across disciplines
