Senior Coroner: Lead Complex Inquests & Investigations

South Tyneside Council is seeking to appoint a new Senior Coroner to replace the current post-holder who is retiring. The Senior Coroner leads the coroner service for Gateshead and South Tyneside and will conduct inquests that are difficult, complex, or likely to attract significant publicity.

The post covers about 1,250 reported deaths per year, is full-time, and includes out-of-hours availability by agreement.
