Band: 3.1

Salary: £51,385 to £62,013 (depending on office location and proven ability)

Reports to: Head of Enterprise Insight and Investment

Location: Milton Keynes/London (minimum of two days a week in the office. You can do more than two days if preferable)

The Role

The Enterprise Insight and Investment Team works to accelerate Innovation towards commercialisation and help start-ups and SMEs to raise Investment. There is particular focus on the development of new to CPC propositions and mechanisms, such as Investment funds, that could facilitate Increased Investment in Innovative place and transport start-ups and SMEs.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant with a background in and focus on Investment to provide technical leadership across the team's activities in the Investment ecosystem. The role will require you to lead the engagement with the Investment community, building an active Investor portfolio aligned with CPCs core domains and the needs of the SMEs we work with.

You will be required to engage with SMEs across the CPC network, providing assessment of their investment readiness, with guidance and support to help them develop it further. Where appropriate you will act as matchmaker, Introducing Investment ready SMEs to aligned Investors.

You will have an important role to play in the development of new to CPC propositions, targeted at Increasing Investment in UK place and transport focused start-ups and SMEs. This will include building and validating the business case for new propositions, such as Investment funds, as well as capturing feedback from the Investment and SME communities to ideate and shape CPC propositions and projects.

This role sits with the Built Environment and Local Growth directorate, but the Enterprise Insight and Investment team will work across the whole of CPC, its Business Units and domains.

You will have prior experience of working with investors and a knowledge of private capital (Angel/VC/PE). You will have experience in or working for an investment fund, with a strong knowledge of fund structures, operations and mechanics. You will have experience of valuation and valuation methodologies.

You are confident in assessing Investment readiness and providing necessary coaching. This will include an understanding of market research and analysis and of value propositions, business models and strategy, to help innovators develop products and solutions that meet market needs and maximise market opportunities.

You will have a track record in building and maintaining a network and be confident engaging with the Investment community. An understanding of regional Investment landscapes is a bonus.
