JOB SUMMARY
To be responsible to the Project Manager for all the MEP, Specialist systems and associated builders works, of the MEES & Life Cycle programme.
Salary up to £85,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Monday to Friday 40 hours per week.
Please note this is a 12 month FTC. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB SUMMARY

- Ensure that Contractors perform their obligations under the contract in a fully co-ordinated approach by ensuring good communication and planning, and by providing required common resources. Chair regular co-ordination meetings and ensure that minutes are prepared and promptly distributed.
- Discharge responsibilities for Health and Safety as set out in the Canary Wharf Group Health Safety and Welfare manual also the Canary Wharf Group Construction Health and Safety Plan both in respect of the package and integration of the overall project.
- Ensure that all Contractors are fully briefed on site protocol and logistics procedures. Together with the Logistics Manager, constantly evaluate the effectiveness of all logistics functions to ensure the efficient delivery of materials and manpower to the workplace and the security of the project site.
- Carry out regular inspections of the site to review the standards of access and cleanliness which are required for the safe and efficient operation of the project.
- Review all Contractors method statements.
- Implement a permit to work system and ensure that all Contractors are in possession of relevant permits before commencing work.
- Conduct mandatory Contractor's progress meetings and ensure that minutes are accurately prepared and promptly distributed.
- Manage a team of Construction Managers and ensure that they are individually briefed on their duties and performance expectations. Continually assess the adequacy of this team to manage the construction effort.
- Liaise with Project Managers to carry out regular site inspections of all aspects of the work in progress. Ensure that site works are at all times adequately supervised.
- Carry out snagging inspections with the Project Managers. Maintain up-to-date lists of defects and incomplete works and perform rigorous follow-up to ensure prompt rectification by the Contractor.
- Together with the team of Construction Managers, maintain a detailed written record of individual Contractor's daily progress.
- Oversee the implementation of all temporary works and the establishment of temporary site facilities.
- In consultation with the Logistics Manager, develop strategies for the supply of temporary utilities, hoists, and cranes. Ensure that these resources are effectively managed for the safe and efficient operations of the project.
- Ensure the proper supply and management of welfare facilities for safe and efficient operations of the project.
- Ensure good environmental practice on site, in line with the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Project Management.
- Reports to the Project Manager regarding the construction of the project.
- Assists Design Managers and Project Managers in developing practical design solutions.
- Assists Project Managers in the review of the tenders from the point of view of construction methods, planning and logistics.
- Works closely with the Senior Project Manager and Project Managers with regard to the management and supervision of sub-contractors.
- Delegates duties to Construction Managers (Structure, Envelope, Mechanical, Electrical, Finishes and Logistics).
- Works closely with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure that responsibilities for Health and Safety are met.
- Manage the interfaces with adjacent Properties and other Projects. Delegate the implementation of the operation of logistic function of the Project to the Logistics Manager.
- Works closely with the Project Manager(s)/ Quality Manager with regard to the quality of work.
- Works closely with the Planning Manager with regard to the construction programme and the recording of work in progress and completed.
- Assist the Project Manager with the review of the site records in the close-out stages of the project.
- Significant proven experience in managing major multi-discipline construction projects in a senior construction management role.
- Be in possession of a relevant formal qualification e.g. Degree, HND (as a minimum), or have progressed through a relevant construction trade or be a member of a Professional Institution or be actively working towards membership. e.g. CIBSE.
- Oversee and coordinate the validation of MEP systems, specialist installations, and associated builders' works, within live buildings across multiple projects.
- Oversee and coordinate the replacement of MEP and specialist systems as part of the building's MEES compliance and lifecycle works programme, including all related construction and enabling activities, within live buildings across multiple projects.
- Work closely with the design and engineering teams to address technical queries and ensure all systems are built in line with design intent and regulatory standards.
- Report directly to the Project Manager, providing regular progress updates, highlighting risks, and contributing to project planning and coordination activities.
- Attend and contribute to weekly progress, coordination, and subcontractor meetings.
- Ensure that all works are delivered to the highest quality and safety standards, and in accordance with project documentation and specifications.
- Support pre-commissioning and handover preparation for mechanical system.
- Proven competency with the integration of all construction disciplines and first-hand experience with logistics as applicable to multi-discipline construction projects is required.
- Be commercially-aware and contractually astute and should possess coordination skills with regards to labour resources, procurement and delivery of materials. Individuals must be effective in motivating Contractors and display competencies in dealing with Design Consultants, Statutory Authorities, and technical support staff.
- Must have a desire to succeed and be achievement and results oriented.
- Ability to lead a team of Construction Managers to work effectively with the Contractors is required.
- Possess proven problem-solving competencies, as applicable to multi-discipline projects.
- Must be competent to assess the adequacy of Contractors Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
