The Opportunity

Are you ready to join a market leader shaping the future of commercial insurance in the UK? Chubb is seeking an ambitious Senior Property Underwriter to drive new business growth and renewal retention in the dynamic middle market segment. You'll play a pivotal role in expanding our UK commercial portfolio, working closely with broker partners nationwide to deliver tailored solutions and best in class service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite, quote, and convert new Property business in the middle market segment, aligned with business targets and growth strategy.
  • Engage regularly with producers and Business Development Managers to develop and execute a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Demonstrate effective trading behaviours, negotiation skills, and engagement to close new business.
  • Deliver a consistently high level of underwriting service and rapid response to brokers.
  • Collaborate with sales, distribution, other lines of business, risk engineering, operations, and management to deliver the Chubb value proposition.
  • Maintain underwriting integrity by adhering to Chubb's technical guidelines and best practices, supported by regular peer reviews.
  • Keep accurate underwriting records and data.
  • Represent and promote Chubb to brokers, building strong, trusted relationships with key producers.
  • Conduct business ethically, in line with Chubb's code of conduct, compliance, and service standards.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, building and maintaining Chubb's excellent external reputation.
Qualifications

What Skills & Experience Are Required?

  • A-Levels or higher; degree or ACII (or progress towards) preferred but not essential.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Property underwriting.
  • Strong underwriting background, with authority in at least one core line and the ability to influence across others.
  • Experience working within delegated underwriting authority.
  • Expertise in risk analysis, claims interpretation, and loss control.
  • Proven track record as a dynamic new business development underwriter.
  • Knowledge and experience in the middle market insurance segment.
  • Results driven, decisive, and able to work independently.
  • Adaptability to shifting priorities in a fast paced, innovative environment.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to service excellence and speed of response.
