Senior Calypso Developer (Java) - Capital Markets

Senior Calypso specialist to own end-to-end delivery across a front-to-back capital markets platform. This is a hands-on role with real influence across design, build, testing, and delivery. You'll work directly with Product, Business, and Support teams to shape solutions, challenge requirements, and drive technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical SME for Calypso, delivering full life cycle implementations
• Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to analyse and challenge requirements
• Translate business needs into functional specifications and detailed user stories
• Design, build and customise Calypso solutions (primarily Back Office)
• Lead technical discussions and present solutions in relevant forums
• Identify pain points and propose pragmatic improvements and solutions
• Ensure delivery against agreed timelines, cost, and scope
• Contribute to architecture decisions and suggest enhancements where needed
• Research whether solutions exist within Calypso vs requiring customisation
• Define and improve functional and technical testing strategies
• Validate test coverage and effectiveness; introduce improved QA practices
• Support implementation strategy across projects and services
• Mentor and train junior team members and new joiners
• Drive better ways of working across the team

Requirements

• 9+ years Java development experience
• 6+ years hands-on Calypso experience
• Strong expertise across Calypso Back Office, including:
  • Message setup and workflows
  • Settlements (SWIFT)
  • Accounting
  • Payment processing
  • Settlement instructions
  • Back Office positions
  • Customisation within Calypso
• Solid understanding of capital markets products:
  • Securities and corporate actions
  • Money markets
  • Foreign exchange
  • Listed and OTC derivatives
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability; able to debug independently
• Experience designing and delivering scalable solutions
• Comfortable influencing stakeholders and driving outcomes
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• High ownership mindset; follows issues through to resolution
