What you'll be doing
Leading the Writing Function Set standards and drive quality across all bid responses for Secondary Care and Integrated Urgent Care. Take ownership of the writing process from strategy to final submission, making editorial decisions and ensuring we truly answer what commissioners are asking for.
Team Leadership Direct line management of 2 Business Development Writers, sharing knowledge and teaching techniques like storyboarding. Help others develop their writing skills while fostering collaborative working practices across our team of 10+ writers.
Strategic Impact Work closely with clinical teams and business development colleagues to translate complex healthcare concepts into compelling proposals. You'll have genuine input into how we approach tenders and the creative freedom to try new approaches.
Quality Excellence Review and enhance other writers' work, maintain style standards, and continuously improve our bidding methodologies. Mentor writers in fundamental principles while developing standardised approaches for different opportunity types.
What we'll look for in you
Essential Experience:
- Proven track record in bid writing, ideally with healthcare or public sector experience
- Strong understanding of UK public procurement processes, particularly NHS frameworks
- Leadership experience with ability to mentor writers and quality-assure work
- Advanced writing skills including content strategy, storyboarding, and persuasive messaging
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects independently
The Right Approach:
We need someone confident in their abilities and comfortable being the writing expert in the room. You'll understand that bid writing is both art and science - appreciating the psychology behind persuasive storytelling while ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
Bonus Points:
- Healthcare sector knowledge or genuine interest in improving patient outcomes
- Experience with Secondary Care, Ophthalmology, MSK, 111 and other Integrated Urgent Care Services
- Understanding of CQC inspection frameworks and healthcare regulation
