Job Description

Waracle is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our digital technology consultancy, renowned for its diverse and ambitious community of specialists in technology-driven transformation.

We collaborate with clients to solve complex business and customer challenges, creating innovative digital products and services. Our projects involve business-critical IT transformations from strategy to operations.

This is a hybrid role based in any of our UK offices (Glasgow, Dundee, Edinburgh, London), requiring 2 days of on-site work per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Backend Architecture: Design and develop scalable .NET/C# applications, including microservices and APIs, ensuring high code quality and clean architecture.
• Solve Complex Challenges: Address architectural and performance issues, implementing solutions to improve system efficiency and data integrity.
• Drive Project & Agile Excellence: Lead backend development for complex projects, promote Agile practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Mentor & Grow Talent: Coach and mentor junior developers, fostering continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Innovate & Consult: Stay updated on the .NET ecosystem and cloud-native patterns, guiding technology choices and proposing impactful solutions.
• Ensure Standards: Establish version control strategies and promote best practices across projects.

Requirements

• Proven backend expertise with experience in .NET, C# (.NET Core/5+), ASP.NET Core, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• Knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL), ORM frameworks (Entity Framework Core), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Ability to set technical direction, contribute to architecture, and conduct code reviews.
• Experience leading complex projects in Agile environments.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Passion for coaching and fostering collaborative teams.
• Track record of driving development improvements and innovation.
• Experience in a digital consultancy is highly desirable, with strong client-facing skills.
