Job Description
Senior Associate/Legal Director - Telecoms

Department: Real Estate - Commercial Real Estate

Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Glasgow

Description

We are looking for a senior commercial property transactional projects, energy, or infrastructure lawyer to join our Scottish Real Estate practice, part of a nationwide team of over 150 real estate professionals operating across London, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Leeds, and Glasgow.

Our Scottish offering focuses on telecoms infrastructure, asset management, development, and investment work, with strong cross-departmental and cross-jurisdictional collaboration. Following renewed panel appointments and significant growth in our national telecoms practice, we are seeking a senior hire to lead and strengthen our delivery capability in Scotland.

This is a strategic leadership role within a nationally recognised real estate practice. You will have the opportunity to :

  • Be the senior figure in Scotland, leading and developing a local team.
  • Be part of a succession plan with real scope for progression and influence.
  • Work with colleagues across the UK and "build your brand" south of the border.
  • Have a direct hand in shaping our telecoms and infrastructure delivery model across the UK.
  • Gain exposure to major national clients in the telecoms, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Enjoy a varied workload. This is not routine conveyancing, but complex, technical, and strategic work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day management of telecoms and commercial asset management transactions.
  • Act as primary client contact, delivering high-quality, solutions-focused legal advice.
  • Supervise and mentor junior colleagues, ensuring robust quality control and knowledge sharing.
  • Support major infrastructure and portfolio projects in collaboration with senior national colleagues.
  • Manage client relationships and reporting requirements with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Drive internal initiatives including business development, client care, and training.
  • Ensure compliance with firm and client protocols on billing, file management, and data security.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

We're open to candidates who bring transferable expertise and leadership potential, not just traditional commercial real estate profiles. If you have experience in land acquisition, wayleaves, project delivery, or asset management, you will adapt quickly to the technical and commercial aspects of telecoms work.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Solicitor (Scotland) with 5-10+ years' PQE in commercial property, energy, infrastructure, or project work.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Scottish property law, ideally including telecoms, utilities, or similar sectors.
  • Proven experience supervising or leading junior team members.
  • Commercially astute, pragmatic, and able to operate in fast-moving project environments.
  • Confident communicator capable of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in telecoms, energy, or infrastructure-related real estate transactions.
  • Experience managing client portfolios and working within client-specific reporting frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Visual Files or similar case management systems (training provided).
