Senior Associate, Asset Management (Residential and Student Housing)

Description

We are seeking an experienced Asset Manager to join our London-based team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the residential and/or student accommodation sectors to help execute value-add strategies across our UK and European portfolio. This role requires a detail-oriented and collaborative individual who can work closely with internal teams-including Portfolio Management, Acquisitions, and Finance-as well as external stakeholders, such as operating partners and consultants.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Manage a portfolio of residential and student accommodation investments across the UK and Europe to drive performance and long-term value creation.
  2. Take full ownership of assigned investments and lead the execution of business plans, including leasing strategies, capital projects, ESG initiatives, and value-add activities.
  3. Lead the preparation of annual budgets in collaboration with internal stakeholders and operating partners.
  4. Manage internal and external valuation processes, working closely with Finance, operating partners, external valuers, and present recommendations to the Valuation Committee.
  5. Monitor investment performance and update financial model projections, including actuals, supporting strategic decisions and revisions to business plans.
  6. Deliver quarterly reporting to Portfolio Management and Finance teams, including variance analysis and updated projections aligned with evolving business strategies.
  7. Present key performance insights, strategic developments, and investment updates to senior leadership during quarterly reviews.
  8. Conduct site visits and oversee third parties-such as operating partners, property managers, and leasing teams-to ensure alignment with asset strategies and operational goals.
  9. Perform financial modelling to support strategic decisions, scenario analysis, and asset performance optimization.
  10. Collaborate internally on hold/sell analyses, refinancing, and exit strategies, including presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
  11. Maintain strong relationships with joint venture partners, consultants, and service providers.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in real estate asset management, focusing on residential and/or student accommodation assets.
  • Proven track record in driving asset performance through strategic planning and operational oversight.
  • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, with attention to detail.
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills, proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized, experienced in managing capital projects, leasing strategies, and daily asset operations.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Argus and Power BI is a plus.

Job Location and Travel

  • This position is based in our London office.
  • Occasional travel within the UK and Europe is required.
