Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Permanent - Full Time 40 hours per week
  • Rostered between Monday -Sunday, 7:00am - 7:00pm

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and support the animal care team, ensuring they are confident, capable, and working in a safe and supportive environment
  • Assist the Animal Care Lead and/or Centre Manager by coordinating daily operations and activities
  • Carry out hands-on animal attendant duties, providing high-quality care and acting as a consistent, compassionate presence for the animals
  • Ensure all animals are cared for appropriately and adoption pathways are fully utilised
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date animal records within the database
  • Assist with routine veterinary visits and ongoing animal health needs
  • Coordinate with staff and volunteers to improve animal movement and outcomes within the centre
  • Manage adoption enquiries in person, over the phone, and online
  • Monitor animal health and behaviour, including administering medication as required
  • Support socialisation, enrichment, and behaviour modification initiatives for animals in care
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure animal areas run effectively and centre goals are achieved
ABOUT YOU
  • Strong animal-handling experience and knowledge
  • A relevant qualification in Animal Care or Veterinary Nursing (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience working with volunteers, with the ability to grow capability and engagement
  • Excellent communication, customer service and conflict-management skills
  • The ability to think on your feet and adapt quickly
  • High empathy, resilience and a positive, friendly manner
  • Experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Confidence working with the public in a customer-facing role
