About the Team: The Energy Analytics team at ICIS comprises over 50 employees across various regions. Team members have expertise in commodities such as power, gas, and carbon. The team has diverse backgrounds including research, engineering, and economics. Analysts work closely with colleagues in different functions, regions, and time zones.

The position is based in Europe, preferably in our London headquarters, Karlsruhe, Germany, or Gallarate, Italy. The role involves hybrid work, combining office presence with remote work, and regular interactions with colleagues and clients across regions and time zones.

About the Role: The Senior Analyst will join our growing Power Analytics team, focusing on quantifying and analyzing European power markets over mid- and long-term horizons. The role involves writing forward-looking content, working with clients to understand markets, and collaborating on modeling capabilities and product development.

Ideal candidates will have professional experience in the energy sector, preferably in trading, consultancy, or analytics within utilities, oil & gas, or related fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and forecast mid-term developments in European power markets
  • Identify trends and price drivers, respond to market events with data-driven analysis
  • Lead new projects to expand product offerings from inception to delivery
  • Work with the modeling team to calibrate models and update assumptions
  • Engage with clients and media, promote thought leadership through presentations
  • Track political and regulatory developments and translate into analytics for clients

Requirements:

  • Significant experience at a trading house, energy company, consultancy, or financial services firm
  • Strong research and writing skills, with experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Experience in client-facing communication via personal contact and media
  • Experience in managing and training teams
  • Knowledge of SQL and VBA; European language skills are a plus
  • Experience with long-term power forecasting to 2040/2050 is advantageous
