Job Description
Senior Algorithm Specialist - Guidance & Control Defence & Aerospace
We're working with a team at the forefront of missile systems development, looking for a Senior Algorithm Specialist with deep expertise in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC). This is a great opportunity to get involved in some of the UK's most advanced defence projects helping shape the future of autonomous guidance and control systems across a wide range of platforms.
You'll work across the full design and development lifecycle - from early concept and R&D through to in-flight trials and operational deployment. There's a good mix of deep technical work (algorithm design, modelling, real-time architecture) and broader system-level thinking (analysis, architecture, integration across complex systems).

The work involves:
  • Designing and implementing G&C algorithms for missile systems
  • Analysing and modelling system behaviour using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Working with tech like IR/RF seekers, inertial sensors, actuators, and advanced propulsion systems
  • Supporting both detailed-level algorithm design and higher-level system architecture decisions
  • Cross-verifying models and systems against theory and performance requirements
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams across various programmes and stages from concept to flight trials

We're looking for:
  • Strong background in aerospace guidance, control and navigation
  • Experienced in algorithm design, simulation, and verification (MATLAB/Simulink essential)
  • Good understanding of real-time system architecture and how complex systems come together
  • Comfortable bounding problems, identifying key design drivers, and simplifying complexity
  • Able to clearly explain technically challenging concepts and influence wider teams
  • Any background in applied flight control would be a bonus - but not essential

This is a solid role for someone who enjoys technically challenging work, can operate at both the detail and systems level, and wants to contribute to something with national-level impact. Flexible working, collaborative teams, and long-term programme involvement all part of the package.

If you are interested please apply ASAP. The People Network is an employment agency and will respond to all applicants within three - five working days. If you do not hear within these timescales please feel free to get in touch.
