Senior / Principal Hydrogeologist Energy

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic Senior or Principal Hydrogeologist to join our Energy group and the wider hydrogeology team within Stantec. This position will require you to work within multidisciplinary teams to support small and large projects across the UK and internationally. The role is based from multiple locations (Reading, High Wycombe, Bristol, Shrewsbury, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, or Edinburgh) with other locations available for the right candidate.
Stantec is seeking a Senior or Principal Hydrogeologist who can support and deliver hydrogeological and environmental aspects of varied contaminated land and quarrying/mineral industry projects within the UK, and the opportunity to work on projects across water resources, catchment management, land development, waste, and flood risk. The position offers exposure to a wide range of projects, collaboration with technical experts, and potential for strong career growth. If not already chartered, a significant commitment to obtain chartership is essential and progress toward this will be fully supported.
As a Senior or Principal Hydrogeologist, you will ideally have a Hydrogeology MSc or relevant PhD and/or considerable post-graduate experience in delivering hydrogeology-related projects. Experience in contributing to or delivering Hydrogeological Risk Assessments and Hydrogeological Impact Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments is highly desirable. Experience in the quarrying and minerals industry, field-based monitoring/sampling and drilling supervision, pumping test supervision and analysis, data analytics, scripting and numerical groundwater modelling, or geochemical modelling and hydrochemical analysis would be advantageous.

About YouAs a key team member, you'll be responsible for accurately quantifying groundwater flow using analytical methods and various water modelling packages. You should have strong technical report writing skills, and solid communication and organisational abilities. A solid grasp of regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency (EA) is desirable. You will consistently deliver high-quality work, manage projects within set deadlines and budgets, and develop and nurture strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and regulators while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
