Salary: £25,221 FTE per annum, rising to point 19 £27,780 per annum (pro rata for part time hours)

Salary details:

  • Starting £25,221 FTE per annum, rising to point 19 £27,780 per annum
  • 22 hpw = £15,132.60 - £16,668.00 per annum, pro rata
  • 29.6 hpw = £20,176.80 - £22,224.00 per annum, pro rata
  • Additionally, £480 home based allowance FTE per annum, pro rata

Location: Homebased within Wiltshire county area, with an expectation for frequent local travel and occasional wider national travel for events.

Hours: Between 22.2 and 29.6 hours per week, negotiable with the successful candidate.

We offer flexible working arrangements.

Contract: Temporary, fixed term for one year in the first instance, with potential to extend depending on budget review and business needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide initial enquiry and casework support for children, young people and their families/representatives via phone, email, online and face to face meetings in relation to SEND.
  • Develop and maintain in depth knowledge of current legislation, statutory guidance and best working practices, including undertaking IPSEAL1 3 training.
  • Work in line with Information, Advice & Support Service (IASS), providing impartial legal information, advice and support in accordance with SEND legislation, policies and SENDIASS Minimum Standards.
  • Act as Child and Young Person Lead, liaising with the Project Manager to prioritise service development.
  • Provide individual, impartial enquiry resolutions and casework for parents and young people through phone, text, Teams, email, home visits or SENDIASS events.
  • Represent and support families in preparing for and attending meetings, face to face or online.
  • Listen to concerns, help families understand local and statutory procedures, and signpost to other support sources.
  • Help families fill in forms, write letters and reports, tailoring support to individual needs to ensure equal access to the service.
  • Plan support to ensure the best use of time and advise on options.
  • Provide confidential and impartial advice to young people on their own, promoting their voice throughout casework as Child and Young Person Lead.
  • Adopt a conciliatory approach in resolving disagreements through early intervention, facilitating communication between stakeholders, via meetings, reviews, mediation and tribunals.
  • Ensure compliance with Local Authority and Family Action procedures for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
Requirements
  • Recognised professional qualification in education, health, social work or equivalent (or equivalent experience).
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing learning and professional development.
  • At least two years' experience in a role working directly with children and young people with SEND, particularly supporting the age group.
  • Ability to empathise with and assist families of children/young people with additional needs or in crisis.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and active listening skills.
  • First rate verbal and written communication skills to empower service users to self advocate.
  • Understanding of local and statutory procedures and interventions.
  • Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service - Child and Adult Workforce with Children's Barred List check.
