Job Description

ESPA College, South Hill caters for autistic young people between the ages of 16-25, who are working towards qualifications from Pre-Entry Level to Entry Level, working with our Explore and Navigate curriculum pathways.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and hardworking individual to join the teaching team at South Hill. The ideal candidate will have experience working with autistic learners with additional needs in education.

The successful candidate would require a PGCE/Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification.

Ideal Candidate

The role includes:

  • Creating and implementing personalised learning programs to address learners' personalised needs, promoting their independence and communication skills.
  • Producing consistently high-quality teaching paperwork.
  • Planning sessions that meet the sensory needs of autistic learners, often community-based, to encourage community engagement.
  • Working closely with learning support assistants to deliver outstanding sessions.
  • Differentiating learning materials and activities to create personalised, hands on learning opportunities.
  • Gathering evidence for accredited qualifications and RARPA portfolios.
  • Implementing thorough risk assessments that ensure all activities are carried out safely.
  • Ensuring that every student is making progress towards achieving their Education, Health and Care plans targets.
  • Collaborating with external professionals and contributing to student reviews.
  • Working with some learners who can present challenging behaviour
  • Creating a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
