Primary SEND Teaching Assistant

Courtlands School in Plymouth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in education or those with transferable skills who are eager to work in a supportive SEND setting and make a positive impact on children's lives.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Work closely with classroom staff to support pupils with special educational needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and remain regulated throughout the school day.
• Provide flexible support tailored to individual needs, which may include one-to-one work, small group interventions, and assistance within the wider classroom environment.
• Employ empathy and a calm approach to help students navigate their daily challenges.
• Adapt support strategies to meet the evolving needs of each child, ensuring a nurturing and effective learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Patience, calmness, and a nurturing disposition.
• Confidence in supporting children with SEND needs.
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to different learning styles and emotional needs.
• Comfortable working as part of a team.
• Experience in a school, care, or support setting is beneficial, but strong candidates with relevant transferable skills from backgrounds such as care or youth work are also encouraged to apply.
