Job Description

Aspire People are recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work within primary schools across Didsbury and the surrounding area.

We work in partnership with a range of local primary schools, including maintained community schools and schools within supportive Multi-Academy Trusts, who are looking for committed individuals to provide long-term support for pupils with additional needs and barriers to learning.

These are full-time, long-term positions, typically continuing for the duration of the academic year, giving you the opportunity to become a consistent part of the school community and make a genuine difference to the pupils you support.

The Role

You could be working 1:1, with small groups or providing additional support within the classroom, depending on the needs of identified pupils. Pupils may have needs including:

Autism / ASD

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

ADHD

Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

Emotional regulation difficulties

Wider barriers to learning and engagement

Your role will be centred around helping pupils access learning, build confidence and independence and reach their true potential. This could include supporting:

Engagement and participation within the classroom

Attainment gaps through targeted 1:1 and small-group work

Communication and interaction

Emotional regulation and positive behaviour

Confidence, independence and relationships with education

Access to learning through adapted activities and individualised support

You will work closely with class teachers, SENDCOs and wider school teams, responding flexibly to the needs of the pupils you support.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for people who have previous experience working with children or young people, either within a school, nursery, childcare, private or voluntary setting.

You don't necessarily need extensive classroom experience, but you must be able to demonstrate relevant experience working with children and a genuine passion for SEND and inclusive education.

We are particularly interested in people who are:

Passionate about supporting children with SEND and committed to helping every pupil reach their true potential

Resilient in nature, understanding that progress can look different for every child

Patient, calm and consistent when supporting pupils who may find communication, learning or emotional regulation challenging

Flexible and adaptable, able to respond positively to the changing needs of pupils and the wider classroom

Proactive, with the confidence to build relationships and become an active member of the school team

Committed to providing the consistency and stability that pupils with additional needs often benefit from
