Job Description

Our client, a highly regarded educational institution in Maidstone, Kent, is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. This is a full-time position with a competitive daily rate of £95 - £120.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting and empowering students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the individualised attention and support they require to thrive academically and socially. Your primary responsibilities will involve working closely with our SEND teachers and other professionals to create and implement comprehensive support plans tailored to each student's unique requirements.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with SEND, assisting them with academic tasks, social interaction, and personal care as needed.
  • Collaborating with SEND teachers and other specialists to develop and execute engaging, inclusive lesson plans and activities that cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of your students.
  • Monitoring student progress, documenting their achievements and challenges, and regularly communicating with SEND teachers and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment, ensuring it is organised, safe, and conducive to the students' educational and emotional well-being.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest strategies and best practices in SEND education, continuously enhancing your skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrating a deep commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and a student-centred approach, fostering a nurturing and supportive learning environment for all.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:

Qualifications Skills - Minimum of 2 years' experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant or in a similar supportive role
- Relevant qualifications in education, SEND, or a related field
- Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with students with diverse learning needs
- Proficiency in using technology and assistive tools to support student learning
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
