SEND Teaching Assistant - ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision)

A primary school in Fenham is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work within their ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision), supporting pupils with a range of needs including autism, communication difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
This is a hands on, rewarding role where no two days look the same, but every day makes a difference.
The RoleAs a SEND Teaching Assistant in the ARP, you will:
- Support pupils in the ARP setting, both 1:1 and in small groups
- Help pupils access learning through tailored support and adapted resources
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Work closely with teachers, the SENDCO and wider support staff
- Encourage independence, confidence, and communication skills
- Support with routines, transitions, and sensory needs
- Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced working with children with SEND (school based experience preferred)
- Confident supporting pupils with autism and additional needs
- Patient, reliable, and emotionally resilient
- A strong team player with great communication skills
- Passionate about inclusion and helping every child thrive
Relevant qualifications (CACHE, Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning, etc.) are desirable but not essential if you have strong experience.
What is an ARP? (Additionally Resourced Provision)An ARP is a specialist provision within a mainstream school, designed to support pupils with additional needs who may require more structured or targeted support than can usually be provided in a standard classroom setting.
Pupils in an ARP are still part of the wider school community, but they may access learning through a more personalised approach, which can include:
Smaller Group Teaching- Individual support plans
- Communication and sensory support
- Structured routines and targeted interventions
- Support with emotional regulation and social development
The aim of an ARP is to help pupils thrive academically and emotionally, while also encouraging inclusion and access to mainstream learning wherever appropriate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
